Dorothy Newman Davis was born January 8, 1953 in Culpeper County to James A Newman and Lillie Mae Brown Newman and departed this life on October 30, 2021 at her home after a long illness to be with our Lord and Savior.
She graduated from Culpeper County High School in 1972 and was employed at several businesses in the Culpeper area throughout her working career.
Dot was baptized at a young age and gave her life to Christ in her adulthood. Dot was one of the founding members of Immanuel Christian Ministries. She had very strong religious beliefs, attended church regularly until her health began to fail, always reading and quoting the bible, praying, listening to gospel music and working to get people to come to Christ and be saved.
She loved her family very much, especially her sons and grandchildren. She also enjoyed family gatherings and everyone enjoyed being in her presence.
Dot was predeceased in death by her husband Robert Davis, two sons – Shelton P. and Phillip O. Newman, parents – James A & Lillie M Newman, two brothers – Charles (Peter) Newman and Terry L Newman, three sisters - Mary L Lane, Shirley Newman and Grace A Newman. She leaves to cherish her memories one son – Anthony (Tony) Newman and six grandchildren - Jada, Isiah, Skylar, Austin, Destiny Newman - all of Culpeper, VA and Keana Johnson of Fredericksburg, VA. Five sisters – Josephine Minor, Catherine Drumgoole (Wesley), Ruby Bannister, Helen Ford (Dana), Hazel Newman, Christine Hackley and Brenda Newman all of Culpeper, VA, two brothers – James (Buck) Newman of California and George Newman of Stone Mountain, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dot will truly be missed by many!
