On November 26, 2025, Ernest Hastings Bowler, Jr. of Warrenton, Virginia, peacefully passed away at the Capital Caring Adler Center in Aldie, Virginia.
Ernest was born on November 27, 1944 to the late Ernest and Clara Bowler. He was raised in Washington, D.C., and attended McKinley Technical High School. After graduating, he began his career at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C., where he faithfully served for 37 years before retiring. In 2012, he relocated to Warrenton, Virginia where he continued to enjoy a quiet and fulfilling life.
Ernest loved being surrounded by the people he cared about. As a child, he cherished the summers he spent with family in Virginia and Maryland — memories that stayed close to his heart throughout his life. He enjoyed a strong cup of coffee and good food, often making the drive from Warrenton to his favorite buffet in Charlottesville just for a satisfying meal.
Ernest’s greatest passion was cars. He loved visiting dealerships to checkout the newest models and chat with the sales staff and mechanics. He was also known for his sharp sense of humor — his jokes and hilarious stories could leave an entire room in stitches.
In Addition to his love for cars, Ernest enjoyed listening to soul music, watching westerns, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Ernest is survived by his sister, Eurcelle Lewis of Temple Hills, Maryland, and his brother, Earl Bowler (Carolyn) of Manassas, Virginia. He also leaves behind four beloved nieces and nephews: Jocelyn Berthay of Bristol, Virginia; Joseph Lewis of Woodbridge, Virginia; Eric Bowler (Lauren) of Haymarket, Virginia, and April Bowler of Manassas, Virginia. He is also remembered fondly by his longtime devoted friend, Lillian Johnson of Silver Spring, Maryland.
