Frederick Gene Delf of Culpeper, Virginia, passed away peacefully July 1, 2021, at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. Frederick was born March 5, 1949, to the late William Edward and Sarah Elizabeth Delf of Culpeper, VA.
Fred was a U.S. Army Veteran and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was the recipient of several medals to include the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medals.
Fred was an automobile mechanic and opened his own business, Fred's Auto Service, in 1978. He continued to operate his business until December 2019, when he became seriously ill. He was unable to do the mechanical work after this illness, but he would come to his shop several days a week so his friends and former customers could stop in and visit. Fred was a very sociable person who loved to tell jokes and stories.
Fred is survived by his significant other, Linda Martz, and her daughter, Lori Martz Belew, sister Patricia Olinger, and nephews Michael Olinger (Caryn) and Douglas Morgan, many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and his beloved Furr Babies, Foxy, Cisco, Benny and Ellie, along with many close friends including Ronnie Lee, Boyd Carpenter, Tim Edwards and Deedle Edwards.
In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his sister Elsie Morgan and brothers-in-law, Stanley (Nick) Olinger, William Morgan, Jr., and nephews Warren and William Morgan, II.
Fred’s contagious laugh and smile will be missed.
