John Wardell Norwood, Jr.

John Wardell Norwood, Jr. (Johnny Boy) Born May 10, 1949 at University Hospital Charlottesville VA, passed away peacefully at Culpeper Hospital on December 9, 2025 at the age of 76.  He was the Son of John Wardell Norwood, Sr. (slick) and Mary Elizabeth Johnson Norwood.

He was proceeded in death by his parents John and Mary Norwood,  his Sisters, Artelia Jackson and JoAnn Norwood,  brothers, James Johnson and Frankie Norwood. As well as his daughter, Angela Collins, and grandson Dameris Washington.

John is survived by his sisters, Doris Anthony ( Michael) and Katherine Norwood. As well as his sons, John Norwood Sr., Lester Davis, Jeffery Norwood, Lawrence Nibblins and Marquis Norwood (Ericka). And Daughters, Debbie Norwood, Teresa Davis, Catherine Bright, Shaunita Lindsay, and Arnita Murray, He had lots of love for his grandchildren and great children.

Although John worked many jobs from farming to plowing cable into the grounds. His passion  was being a mechanic and he was good at it. He was a hunter and an avid angler and could out fish most. If you’ve ever been fishing with him, then you'd know all too well. John loved watching baseball (Atlanta Braves) and listening to gospel music on Sundays.

John also had a host of friends that would come to hang out with him… thank you for being a friend!

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2026.  Viewing will start at 11:00 A.M. and the homegoing services will start at 12:00 P.M.  All services will be held at Horizon Funeral Home - 750 Old Brandy Road, Culpeper, VA 22701
