Latoya Shrea Veeney

Latoya Shrea Veeney, 36, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Latoya was a beacon of unwavering love and kindness within her family and community. She left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Latoya was born on August 27, 1987 in Charlottesville, Virginia. After Latoya graduated from Orange County High School in 2005, she went on to further her education at Virginia State University. 

She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Locust Grove Baptist Church under Reverend Gordon Henderson until her grandfather, Pastor James Strother, Sr. founded Church of the Living God which is now under the pastorship of her aunt Pastor Dr. Debra Yarde.

During her time at Virginia State University, Latoya was an active student on campus. She was inducted into the National Honors Society and later initiated into the Sistas 2 Sistas Circle in the Spring of 2009. After graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelors in May 2009, she started her first job as an advocate to support families for better living. While remaining employed full time, Latoya also graduated Cum Laude with her Master of Education in Counseling December 2011.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the Locust Grove Baptist Church - 1957 Locust Grove Baptist Church Road, Radiant, VA 22732.  Family visitation will start at 12:00 noon with the funeral service starting at 1:00 PM.
