Laura Odessa Queen Obituary

Laura Odessa Queen

In The beginning:

Laura Odessa Queen, aka (Mom,Grandma, and Aunt Dee) was born on October 22,1941, to the late William Queen and Nancy Thomas Queen In Rectortown Va. Odessa was a lifelong resident of Fauquier County.

Time for a Change:

After living several years in Rectortown Va, Odessa moved to the town of Warrenton , Va with her children to begin a new life for herself. Odessa worked many jobs, at times working as many as three jobs at one time to financially provide for her family.  After furthering her education, she graduated from Prince William County Public Schools.  After obtaining her high school diploma ,Odessa took her knowledge and became  a Supervisor with Prince William County Public Schools for thirty - four years.

Living Her Best Life:

Life here hasn't always been easy, but she lived it ,and lived it well. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church , in Warrenton,Virginia, where she joined in 1980, along with her daughter.  Odessa "LOVED" her church and church members.  She was faithful with making sure the flowers were placed at the altar before morning services , and any programs.  She was faithful as a member working alongside her church members in the church kitchen,as well as other assigned duties.  Doing this bought her so much joy. When it came to her church, the word "NO" was not to be mentioned,Only that we are working for "God".

The Transition:

After a short illness,God called her home to take her rest on, Saturday, May 9th, 2026

No longer allowing sickness,or cares of life to  hold her back from doing the things she loved, she answered when her name was called and moved to her new address and reunites with her son (Wallace) her parents (William and Nancy Queen) her brothers (Irvinig Queen and William Payne) sister -in law (Sarah Payne) sisters Jensie Pope Mackey and Thelma Lewis, and grandson (Issiah Wilborn) who all preceded her in death.   She now resides on Hallelujah Blvd, where she is getting settled in before she starts her new assignment.  Her assignment down here is done, and her purpose has been fulfilled.  As we adapt  to our new norm without her,let us share fond memories, laugh, love and live right so we can see her again.

Passing The Torch:

Odessa will continue to live in each of those  God allowed to cross her path while here on earth.  As you think of her, the remainder of your years here ; SMILE and know that she is now an angel watching over you. Her precious spirit will now be shared through those she loved and who  loved her in that of her son, James Queen of Bristow, Virginia, daughters,  Pamela Queen-Hopkins (Andre) of Woodbridge ,Va/N.C, and Beverly Foster (Tony) of Manassas , Va. Her sisters, Mary Oliver (AL) of Fredericksburg, Va and Nancy Queen of Durham, NC.  Her niece  Mary Fludd of Washington D.C, Anita and Tonya Queen of Mesa Arizona. Her nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren, and a host of  nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Her voice will forever be heard and memories will remain in the heart of Geore Cook, Niki Marshall, and many, many friends.
