Melvin Johnson, Sr. Obituary

Melvin Johnson, SR, 75, Culpeper, Va. Departed his life on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the UVA Haymarket Medical Center.  He was born on December 19, 1947 at his home in Culpeper Virginia to the late Viola and John Othell Johnson Sr.

Melvin was a member of Rising Zion Baptist Church, Jeffersonton, Virginia.

Melvin enjoyed reading the Bible, fishing, playing card games, listening to music, participating in social gatherings with family and friends, and watching sports especially his favorite football    team the Washington Commanders.

Melvin’s most precious gift in life was spending time with his family and sharing the Word of God with family and friends.  His faith in the Lord was unmoving.  He had a heart of an Angel.

While being a husband, devoted father, Melvin was a construction worker. Melvin also attended school at George Carver High School.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Johnson, His son Melvin Johnson Jr., His mother     Viola Johnson, his father John Johnson Sr., his brothers John Johnson Jr., Charles Albert Johnson Sr., James Franklin Johnson, and Ronnie Johnson Sr., his sisters, Gloria Ann Johnson, and Delores   Wilson. 

Melvin is survived by his daughters, Pamela(Roy) Jackson, Lana(Curtis) Norman, Teresa(Scott) Howard, Tamika(Lindell) Veeney, and Jamere Luckett.  He has 13 grandchildren, Roy Jackson, Perry Jackson, Candace Jackson, Antoine Norman, Ciara Norman, Cameron Norman, Cortez Veeney, Jalen Veeney, Jordan Veeney, Uniqua Johnson, Melvin Quintell Johnson, Devaughn Cooper, Dyamond Herndon, Djimon Luckett, and Skylar Howard. Two sisters, Arlene (Bill)Jones, Carolyn (Frankie Sr.) Bowles and Four brothers, Stacy Johnson, Robert Johnson Sr., Bruce(Raquel) Johnson, and Brian Johnson.  4 Brother-in-laws George Yates, Terry(Delores) Yates, Nathaniel(Josephine) Yates Sr., and Harold Yates. 4 Sister-in-laws Ella(Lemuel) Mosley, Patricia Bryant, Marian Johnson, and Lucille Johnson, 12 great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
