Patsy M Brooks

Our dear Mother, Patsy M Brooks, was born May 27, 1940, to the late Fred Frank Parker and Patsy Ellen Parker in Fredericksburg Virginia and departed this life on Sunday February 4, 2024, at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, VA.

Patsy was preceded in death by her husband Elvis F. Brooks, Sr, (Huck A Buck) and son Patrick O. Parker Sr., siblings Frederick D Parker, Mary Rose Parker, Kate E Parker, James E Parker, Frances O Parker, Louise R Parker, Franklin D Parker, John E Parker, Clarence H Parker, Leon R Parker, and Van Tyrone Parker.

Patsy received her education from Walker Grant High School in Fredericksburg, VA and attended Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, TX.  She received the Humphrey’s Engineer Center award for Support Activities in 1988 from Fort Belvoir VA, and The Toast Master of the Year award in 1988 from Toastmaster International.  She received a certificate for Bible Interpretation in 1998 and Diploma in October 2004 from Rhema Correspondence Bible School.      

Mother Brooks loved the Lord. As an adult, she served in many capacities at Arm of the Lord Ministries, Fredericksburg VA, and Antioch Christian Center Church, in Richmond VA. She also attended Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries in Chesterfield, VA. She was known to let out a loud “JESUS” at any time during service. She dedicated her life to spreading the Gospel and genuinely showing love to His children. She loved to attend worship services with her family.

Mother Brooks had many hobbies but her favorite two were making cakes and other sweet treats and collecting books. She was an avid reader up until she lost her site. She was affectionately known as the “Candy Lady” from the Mayfield neighborhood.

Mother Brooks leaves to cherish her memories, her loving son Dr. Elvis F. Brooks, Jr and wife Tonisha Brooks of Henrico, VA, five grandchildren: Michael James of Florida and Patrick Parker Jr. of Connecticut, Jonathan Brooks, Makayla Brooks and Trinity Brooks of Henrico, VA.  She leaves five great grandchildren to include Mekhi Becton, Jr. She also leaves to cherish her memories sisters- in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Arm of the Lord Ministries - 2100 Airport Ave, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.  Services will includes a Visitation from 11:00 AM - 12:00 Noon, Funeral Service 12:00 Noon to 1:30 PM.  Burial will take place in the Minor Family Cemetery - 10411 Cooktown Rd, Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA 22551.
