Paul Musser

Paul Jackson Musser passed away the afternoon of Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Culpeper Hospital in Culpeper, Virginia. His daughter Susie was by his side.

Paul was 91 years old, and he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Janet, and his parents, Vernon and Mabel Musser, his siblings, Jesse Musser, Ernest Musser, Pete Musser, Jim Musser, Lindy Musser, Virginia Powell, Willadeen Snyder, and granddaughter Christine (Bartges) Bowlby  He is survived by his brother John Musser. Paul and Janet had three children, Cathy Byrne and husband Gary of Warrenton, VA;  Susie Bartges and husband Danny of Culpeper, VA; and Paul Jackson Musser, Jr and wife Jeanne of Tucson, AZ. They had 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grand-children and a host of nieces and nephews.

Paul met Janet, the love of his life, in 5th grade in Mullens, WV. Paul  joined the Marine Corps, and Janet joined him in New Bern, NC after graduation. Paul separated from the Marines in early 1953, but always remained a proud former (never ex!) Marine for the rest of his life. He attained a  mechanical engineering degree from WV Tech in Montgomery, WV. They lived in Cleveland, WV, Logan, WV, Radford, VA and Sterling, VA. Over the years, he used his engineering degree in several positions and retired from the Department of Energy.

They chose Jeffersonton, VA for their retirement. Paul enjoyed working on the property and making lathe art. He was active in the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out), where he contributed to humanitarian projects as well as eating out and playing cards. He remained active in the ROMEOs and with his large family until the end of his life.

Funeral services will be held at Horizon Funeral Home on Monday, January 22, 2024 starting at 11:00 AM
