Peggy Sue Brooks

Peggy Sue Brooks (62) of Culpeper, Virginia, was born September 28th, 1963 to the late Ashby Louise Tibbs and Charles Tibbs. She departed her life on December 24th, 2025, at UVA Culpeper Medical Center.

Peggy worked diligently for the Culpeper Wood Preserves for more than 30 years.   until her health diagnosis in January of 2025.  She enjoyed going to work every day, rain, sleet or snow. She never missed a day. Her hobbies were enjoying a good game of cornhole with her brothers, washing her car and cooking big meals for her family. When not at work, she loved watching Tubi movies and watching her favorite football team the Washington Commanders.  Every morning with her cup of coffee she would play one of her favorite artiste Carrie Carpenter.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Ashby Louise Tibbs and Charles Tibbs. One daughter Dorothy Tibbs (Dot), one sister Dorothy Ann Tibbs, twelve uncles, six aunts, one brother-in-law, one niece, two great nieces and one sister-in-law.

Peggy Sue is survived  by her loving daughter  Ashby Walton (Leafeart) of Newport News, Virginia.  She cherished her grandson  Deion Walton of Orange, Virginia. She has a special friend Henry Brooks of Culpeper, Virginia and a best friend Cheyenne Hoffman of Culpeper, Virginia. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her adopted daughter Christian Menefee of Culpeper, Virginia.  She also leaves during the last journey of her life three devoted nieces.  She is survived by seven brothers; Harry (Beatrice), Charles (Lenora), David, Ricky (Mary), John (Brenda), Robert (Mary) and Lemont (Pam) and three loving sisters; Barbara (Eugene), Joanne (George) and Eliza (David).  She is also survived by a host of other nieces, nephews, seven uncles and six aunts.

Peggy was very outgoing.  She loved to dance and make everyone laugh, with her charismatic charm.  Her smile and laugh will truly be missed.

Funeral Services for our beloved Peggy are as follows;  Funeral Wake - Monday, January 5, 2026 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Horizon Chapel. Funeral Service -  Tuesday, January 6, 2026 with a Visitation from 12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M. and the Celebration of Life Services will start at 1:00 P.M. also at Horizon Chapel - 750 Old Brandy Road, Culpeper, VA 22701.  The Burial will take place in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. following the Celebration of Life Service.
