Romero Strother Cook was born in Winchester, Virginia on September 16, 1971. On June 25, 2024 he entered into eternal rest.
He was the youngest born child to George S. Cook and Shirley Cook. He grew up in Flint Hill, VA where he often helped on his daddy's Farm. He was the baby brother to four older siblings. As a younger sibling he was described as curious and getting into everything. Nothing could touch his love for fried apples and his grandmother's famous homemade apple butter. Romero was preceded in death by his step mother Annie A. Cook, brother Roy Grigsby and foster brother Randolph Lee Gray.
Growing up Romero attended Rappahannock County High School but later finished his degree at Fauquier High School. He was always the life of the party with a generous heart of gold. Every time you saw Romero you saw that big handsome smile with that laugh that was so infectious. He was very friendly and knew people from all over. He could not go anywhere without knowing at least one person. He had a way of making people feel like they were old friends. He had many jobs throughout his adulthood, like working for Fairfax County Sanitation department, Shenandoah Tree Service in Front Royal, and his own business called Cook Tree Service. Most recently, he went back to school at 49 years old to get his HVAC Certification. His last two jobs were working at Scott Geo-Thermal in Berryville and Dave's Sheet Metal in Boyce.
Romero was a devoted member of Second Guildfield Baptist Church where Rev. Dr. Franklin S. Roberts was his pastor. One of his favorite songs being Jesus on the Main Line.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents George S. Cook, Shirley A. Cook, Sisters Rosalind Cook Alexander and Rolanda Cook, brother Nargil Grigsby, daughter Kyiesha Drury, grand-daughter Promyse Banks, fiance Lisa Manuel and stepson Quinton Thomas. He also leaves to mourn nieces and nephews Ryisha Conway, Rashad Alexander, Ebony Grigsby, Nargil (LG) Grigsby, Mike Phillips, Sir Adam Grigsby and Mister Marvin Grigsby along with a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Horizon Funeral Home - 750 Old Brandy Road, Culpeper, VA 22701. Family Visitation starts at 10:00 AM. Funeral Service starts at 11:00 AM.
