Vance L. Young

Vance L. Young (CHUBBY), 71 of Culpeper, VA., departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Vance was born on February 18, 1953 in Virginia to the late Lathern L. Young and Minnie Wise Young.

Vance was a gentle and loving person with a heart of gold. Vance was always willing to help anyone just out of the kindness within him. Guided by him belief in God, Vance truly faced his trials and tribulations through his life with optimism and hope, always giving God the Glory. He was always kind and considerate of others and enjoyed attending church with family and friends. He also enjoyed working as a Laborer with his friends at The Pavement Company until his health faltered. He was always a loving and caring gentlemen to his wife Hortensia, who he enjoyed spending time with, as they shared loving walks together. Vance attended the George Washington Carver High School in Culpeper, VA., as did many of his good friends.

Vance, every year would looked forward to the school’s reunions. He enjoyed participating and sharing time with close friends. Vance is survived by his loving wife of many years Hortensia Gwendolyn Young, and siblings, Freeman Joseph Wise, Joan Elaine Zarate, Barbara Ann Carpenter, Carolyn Lavern Young-Hutchinson, Linda Felicia Borders, William Lewis Young, and Otis Franklin Young.

His loving and Kind heart will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Good Hope Baptist Church, 14123 Norman Road, Culpeper, VA 22701.  Family Viewing starts at 11:00 AM with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 noon.
